The dream was always to have a "cabin in the mountains." We fell in love with Grand Lake because of the magnificent views, especially of Mt Baldy above Shadow Mountain Lake. But also because Grand Lake is still your "quintessential mountain town" with its old school mountain charm and even a boardwalk. Back to the views, (and this was always so important to us) there is a sign coming into Grand Lake that says "Welcome to Historic Grand Lake." You will see people are always taking pictures next to that sign because Mt Baldy is so perfectly framed in the background above Shadow Mountain Lake. 3 of our cabins have that same picture perfect backdrop!
Back to our story, first we built the 5 bed/3 bath "Lakeside Cabin." It was a 3 year process due to covid, and then the huge Troublesome fire.
Next we purchased the 3 bed/2 bath cabin that was built in 1972. We nicknamed it the 72 cabin, but officially we call it our "Mountain Midcentury Modern Cabin." We did a year long complete remodel of that cabin, and honored it's history by keeping it's vintage vibe with modern touches.
The great thing about that cabin purchase was that it came with 4 additional plots of land, the largest of which we built our 6 bed/5 bath "Lakeview Lodge" on. It is great because those two cabins are right next door to each other.
In 2025 we closed on our 4th cabin, which we named the Pickleball Lodge. Like our Lakeview Lodge, it sleeps 16. But we set it apart from all other rentals in Grand Lake by putting in an outdoor pickleball court. Emily and I really enjoy the game, (yeah we joined a league :) )so we thought it would be fun to share that with our guests!
Recently the plot of land right next to our first build came up for sale, and we were lucky to purchase that as well. So within a couple years God willing, our Lakeside cabin will have a new neighbor!
